Student Umbrella Organizations

Umbrella organizations of the Cross-Cultural Center are advocacy groups who have sustained their commitment to, support for, and participation in the Cross-Cultural Center since it was founded over 30 years ago and are herin afforded benefits with their affiliation within the CCC. In conjunction with the benefits, the umbrella organizations bear a responsibility to advocate, along with the staff, on behalf of the CCC and to be a part of collective efforts to build and strengthen community within the Center. Umbrella organizations are dedicated to the wellbeing and growth of the Center, its clubs, organizations, services, and students and pledge to continue our voice in sustaining its legacy.

Responsibilities to the Cross-Cultural Center
  • Support the mission of the Cross-Cultural Center and advocate for issues in the best interests of the Cross-Cultural Center.
  • Support the programs, services, and activities sponsored by the CCC.
  • Maintain and foster communication with CCC staff so as to proactively address issues, needs, and concerns.
  • Support CCC efforts to increase campus awareness and understanding of multicultural issues.
  • Sustain active representation on CCC Advisory Board (2), CCC Umbrella Council (3), and other committees as requested.
Responsibilities to Umbrella Organizations
  • Maintain coalition with CCC umbrella organizations through consistent communication and participation in the CCC Umbrella Council.
  • Foster cooperation and collaboration through support for and participation in programs and activities.
  • Consult with organization to gain insight, feedback, and support in addressing issues that may impact the CCC, umbrella organizations, or its affiliates.
Responsibilities to Constituent Organizations
  • Serve as an advocacy group that articulates the issues, needs, and concerns of their respective community and affiliate organizations.
  • Establish an organization structure that enables particpation by affilated clubs and organizations.
  • Foster communication and collaboration within the community and affilated organizations.
  • Provide social, administrative, and programming support to constituent organiztions when possible.
Minimum Requirements of Umbrella Organizations
  • 10 years as an established and registered organization at the UCI Cross-Cultural Center.
  • Must be a cultural and advocay organization.
  • Must be committed to issues of social justice.
  • Must work to actively promote a diverse community.
