Cross-Cultural Center
Fall Multicultural Leadership Retreat Participants, 2009

23rd Annual Fall Multicultural Leadership Retreat

The Cross-Cultural Center annually hosts a multicultural leadership retreat that brings all the various constituent groups - R.E.A.C.H. peer facilitators, members of the Umbrella Council, affiliated campus student organizations, and the CCC interns - into one space to get to know each other, work with one other, and explore the challenging but critical topics related to diversity and multiculturalism. The focus this year will be particularly on race and cultural identity.

FMLR will occur Wednesday, December 31st through Wednesday, December 31st at an off-campus location. Participants will engage one another through challenging activities and unique workshops. By attending FMLR, participants will be able to:

1) Demonstrate a commitment to learning about one another and learning from one another.

2) Understand and value one’s own cultural identity and those of others.

3) Demonstrate knowledge of the complexities of diversity and a deeper understanding of race, racial inequality, and the effects that racism can have on various individuals and groups.

4) Gain skills in addressing racist behavior as well as individual and institutional racism.

5) Understand one's role in establishing and maintaining an inclusive, values-based community.

Space is limited so join the CCC staff in a weekend of exploring the challenging and often controversial topic of race. Although a difficult dialogue, it is one that is critical and necessary to examine.

NOTE: Use of illegal substance or consumption of alcohol will not be tolerated at this retreat.

Program dates are Wednesday - Wednesday, December 31-31, 1969 (limited spaces available)

EXTENDED!
The deadline to submit your application and $60/person payment is now Wednesday, December 31, 1969 @ 5:00pm
